Dear Catherine, i hope your hand doesn't get too painful, and is soon on the mend.
Did you manage to get the decorating finished?
Are you all snowed in ?

Dear OH I have decorated the lounge, hall stairs and landing, dining room and kitchen!!!
cause I knew I was due to have this op on my hand I got carried away. Only emulsion and gloss. Once one room is done the rest looked shabby so hey ho there I got carried away. Everywhere looks fab. The bandage on my hand looks gigantic and I struggle to put my coat on over it. I can have my stitches out on the 30th which means no cooking and peeling etc.
But I can type with less fingers
No pain yet which is rather worrying I thought by now I would need more pain killers, my fingers felt like when you have an injection for a filling that numbness in your face, I cannot feel my fingers properly. Another 24 hours might make a difference.
More snow tomorrow!!!!
More snow tomorrow!!!!
Thanks for the lovely cudge herby, certainly warmed me cockles
It is -15 here tonight and we're due more snow tonight and most of tomorrow which is a bit of a bugger cos I gotta go and do some messages for my old mum. It's hard enough getting out of the street as it is, cos it's just sheet ice and I live half way down a hill, and have to drive uphill to get to the main road. Still got pressies to buy too, and some veg to get as I didnt have much of a growing season this year due to bad health.
Still, I have some rum left over from my afternoon of baking so live is good hic hic hic

Dear Catherine, well done on the decorating front, bet it's a lovely feeling managing to get all that amount done.
But now make sure you rest that hand, so it gets chance to heal properly.
Dear Lizzie, glad you enjoyed the cudge, it was especially for you, you Know, that's why i put my gloves on.

Peter, that reminds me of an old Girl i once went out with, she used to say, "hurt me, but don't hate me", i soon stopped going out with her.
Now regarding Grockie, the cudgel might be of use.

The weather here has delivered 14" of snow which refuses to move even with the bright sunshine that we have at present.
The shade temperature at the back of my house has not risen above 27F
since the snow came. The other two stations I have both read 30.9F and they are open temperatures and have been open to the sun this morning.
Last nights low was 21.2F at the back of the house and the open temperature was down 18.3F and 18.2F.
The next snow forecasted for this area is for Boxing Day. I shall be be nice and snug and do not intend to venture anywhere where ice is concerned.

Fingers crossed, the worst seems to be over (for now at least). We have a southerly breeze getting up and temperatures forecast to remain above freezing for the rest of the week
Now to see whether my frozen for two weeks crops in the polytunnel recuperate.

Bitterly cold here this morning but lovely sunshine somewhere!. Unfortunately our entire back garden is in shade and not benefitting from it, thanks to the low sun being blocked by nearby neighbour's huge wide Lleydandi which hides the sun for a large part of the day at this time of year. I can't tell you what uncharitable feelings I have towards this tree. I really wish Santa's overloaded sleigh could have crashed into it and knocked it down
As a result our back garden will probably have snow long after everybody else's has melted.
Roll on the southerly breeze. Overnight temperatures here were 3.7F or minus 15.7C at the rear of house and tunnel temperature -3F or minus 19.4C and outside tunnel the same.
This is the first time in over 30 years of recording that a minus Fahrenheit temperature has been recorded.
Central heating not coping very well but two log burners are helping but it is still on the chilly side.
Just as an aside Nova Scotia is still green and constant drizzle with no frost or ice.

Just walked down to my Mum's, she has no central heating, and the pipes had froze under her sink. Was dreading that hissing sound as they were defrosting, but luckily they were fine.
I'm really hoping the weather will be kind for us on Wednesday, as it's my Aunts funeral in Kings Lynn. All the family are having to travel a fair distance with relations coming from Ireland, too.
They are on about Snow there, Tuesday, but i do hope they are wrong!

We had new central heating fitted about a fortnight ago and have had it pack up twice. Both times the condensate pipe had frozen. We had electric storage heater for 30 years without any failure but they were starting to be inefficient so we thought we'd have a new system before we decorated!

Where'd it go?
Little sign of snow left today - mild and raining. See later how the polytunnel crops are recovering.

OH I am sorry to hear about your Aunt, especially over Christmas, I hope everyone manages to get to the funeral.
Unfortunately it is snowing heavily here again this morning. The road is white over. Luckily my OH bought some snow chains for his van, he is an agricultural engineer and needs to get up and down farm tracks. So we wont have any problem getting out.
We did two wonderful walks, one on Christmas day and one yesterday. But today it is jobs day so we are going to be in for the day.
