OK, that was not funny.

9am to 5pm Sunday, lovely blue skies and temps up to 13 degrees, but a little breezy. Still great weather and plenty done on the plot including getting my second earlies and late spuds in the ground and planting out 150 broad bean plants that had been hardened off for a month or so in cold frames.

Then 5.30 and a rumble of thunder.

5.35 and the heavens open......with hail stones!!!!! The whole place is white in minutes.

7pm Allotment association AGM, get soaked in the 70 yard dash from car to bar as it is tipping it down.

7.30pm, long discussion on drought management...haha!

Did win £15 of garden vouchers though for one of the best kept plots.

Back home for 9pm and bed at 10pm only to wake up to a blanket of white snow 3 to 4 inches deep.

I am near the south coast for pete's sake!!!!

And it is my wedding anniversary today! (Nearly typed weeding anniversary! )

Oh well, April showers..........of snow!

We had frost here last night but no snow or hail.

Just hope the spuds were ok.

Today, we have clear blue skies, beautiful sunshine but it's bloody cold. It's a good day to have a nice, long walk in the woods.
Lots of love

Very similar here. Sunshine and soft hail at the same time and a very sharp frost last night.
The old adage was very true last evening – the first swallow arrived and it certainly wasn’t summer! Their dates vary quite a bit :
2006 9th, 2005 10th, 2004 22nd, 2003 17th, 2002 3rd, 2001 16th, 2000 19th.
I’ve always wondered, if they really come back to the same place why don’t they suffer from the genetic deterioration of inbreeding?
