knife wanted for cuttings

last year I dropped some not too subtle hints that I would like a good knife that I could use for taking cuttings.

My other half dutifully took the bait...and luckily Which? magazine even did a report on the best one to buy.

Sadly the Which? best buy was discontinued just as he put in the order. Three times he tried to order and three times he got a refund. :cry:

So, can anyone recommend a good knife for cuttings? I don't think him indoors can take another year of rib poking :D

Dear Christina, i always use a good quakity craft knife, it's metal so strong, and you can just change the blade when required so is always razor sharp.

I'm not sure of the make i'm afraid, but you can get them from most craft shops.

I just take the cuttings a little over-length from the Mother plants, and then prepare them to length at the potting bench.

Cuttings are not my specialist area but as far as knives are concerned how about:-
Opinel - these are the ubiquitous picnic knives produced by the French.
Many DIY shops have knives taking a "Stanley" type replacable blade which lock into the open position and close securely. I think I paid £5 for one like this.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
