...That's GK as in General Knowledge!

Identify these places and name the vegetable that connects the three in each group

EG if your answers were Alicante, Roma and Ailsa Craig the link would be TOMATO

Here goes with the first three - post your answers as soon as you have them:

1
A town of canals and bridges south of Venice
The land of Tutankhamun
Motown

2
The largest town in East Lothian
A Spanish city famous for its swords
“The capital of the Marshes” in Normandy

3
A Lancashire town with an unusual church
The last resting place of the Venerable Bede
A Worcestershire village whose church is dedicated to St. Mary & St Milburgh

If these are too easy I'll be working on some harder ones

The only thing I can find to link them is Borscht but that requires a few more things as well. Can't find the Normandy variety by the way.

Hi Geoff

It sounds as though you are trying to link all nine clues into one answer:(

1, 2 and 3 are separate puzzles.

Your mention of Borscht is relevant - you only need to name the three places in number 1 and the vegetable they are varieties of.

Hope this makes sense.

Alan

PS Try googling Capital of the marshes Normandy and you should spot the answer to the third part of question 2.

Sorry, just being mischievous, I had found 8 towns and 3 vegetables and was just trying to go one level further and combine them. Still haven't found the one variety, must have the wrong seed catalogues.

I'm right apparently and Alan has told me to post the answers, but although I have the three types of veg, I didn't have three answers for each, I just worked them out from the info I did know. I guess I'll have to do some more research to get all nine answers

Here goes with the first three - post your answers as soon as you have them:

1 = BEETROOT
A town of canals and bridges south of Venice = Chioggia
The land of Tutankhamun = Egypt (Egyption)
Motown = Detroit

2 LEEK
The largest town in East Lothian = Musselburgh
A Spanish city famous for its swords = Toledo
“The capital of the Marshes” in Normandy = Solent (?)

3 CABBAGE
A Lancashire town with an unusual church = Colne (I think)
The last resting place of the Venerable Bede = Durham
A Worcestershire village whose church is dedicated to St. Mary & St Milburgh = Offenham

Not too sure about two of them...

Well(ish) done Chantal :)

The Lancashire town was Ormskirk and the "Capital of the Marshes" was Carentan

Now that was fun, i soon managed to find what vegetable it was but struggled with the names, this just made it more fun.

I wonder if we will get another puzzle next Sunday, here's hoping. :)
