Then we got back to the car parked on Devil's Bridge and another green and white air ambulance(Great North) coming in to land another few fields away from where we were parked.
Today we walked out of Longridge and as we were walking back across fields to cross the main road half way round our walk, the yellow Air ambulance came flying over our heads and landed very close to us. It brought it all back when I had my accident and what a very good job they do for the county.
I had a serious accident 10 years ago the day after my birthday, when I came off over the handle bars of my mountain bike on a road and hit my ribs on the handle bars and bounced on the floor with my head. (If I had not had my helmet on I would be dead) I was collected by the air ambulance and taken to Preston Hospital where I was lucky not to have damaged my spine, I only broke my arm. As I lay half on and half off the road waiting for my OH to call the ambulance as it was clear I was not going to complete our bike ride, a car came up the country road and drove round my head to continue up the road. Another car came down towards us and was almost driven off the road by the chap who was not going to be held up by a mere accident. That couple were absolutley super and helped look after me and carry me over the hedge to the helicopter when there we forced to land in a field close by but with no gate to get to me.
As the helicopters came over us both yesterday and today it brought back memories of me lying on the road/verge looking up into the sky and seeing a yellow helicopter flying over with AA underneath, and in the state I was I wondered why the AA (Automobile Association)
They did a super job looking after me and I hope that whoever they called to look after yesterday and today they are ok.
