I think from the comments in this thread it is impossible to please everyone.

Well i think most people that have wanted to, have posted their veiws, and we really need to try and move forward, whatever the outcome.

So maybe now might be a good time to invite Alan and Johnboy to share any thoughts they have, over the replied comments.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

I would like to state my total support for what Peter has done; moderating is a thankless task that never pleases everyone.

Maybe action should have been taken sooner, but we try not to interfere unless absolutely necessary. However, we've had too many complaints lately about the arguments on here, not the subject matter so much as the personal comments that have been made. So, no matter what we as moderators think, action had to be taken.

I've been put off too by feeling under personal attack for one or two things I've said, so I've not posted as much, and have avoided the topics which were getting a bit confrontational. I also feel uneasy when other members making a perfectly reasonable point get "slagged off" rather than answered or disagreed with politely.

I don't mind debate, but it doesn't have to get nasty. I also don't mind when topics wander a bit if someone has an interesting point to make, as it is usually generated by the original topic.

I also look forward to Johnboy's postings and appreciate his wealth of knowledge about farming, gardening and the countryside. Alan too puts some very thought provoking stuff on and finds good scientific information to back things up, so I hope this hasn't put them off.

The moderator was probably right to calm things down a bit though, that is their job.

A well known American gardening web site had to ban anything political or religious as the letters were getting very nasty - but that's America.

I feel that it's a crying shame, that things have come to this. As Glallotments says, you can't please all of the people all of the time. Due to human nature, we are all different, with differing opinions and views and that's how it should be.

We have a choice whether to read or not to read any thread. I tend not to read in great detail, the political and more contentious ones....that is my choice. Neither do I choose to take part in them.

I don't like the thought of not seeing certain forum members contributions on here.

I love this forum. As OH says. Let's put all this behind us and move on.

Please.

To be cynical I would just stay away from the heavy weight topics, if it becomes a spar between two members (and I have been guilty of this in the past) these days I leave the forum to peter out (sorry peter no pun intended). But yes maybe give it a separate channel and have it members only. No swearing and keep it impersonal i think it might work................
If I am not on the plot, I am not happy.........

Just to add, I would be sorry if certain members deemed it necessary to leave the forum. I value their input.

I would rather people contacted a Moderator (or myself) in private if you EVER feel a comment has been made against you that's personal.
It is against the rules of the forum and will be treated appropriately.

The KG forum is highly valued and well respected, so the team here wants to ensure it works the best it can.

I think for now, we'll stay as is, but I will strongly remind all users that 'ranting' (long rambling posts with endless links to other sites) and personal comments of any kind are not accepted.

I am happy for another topic on climate change to start, and would simply ask everyone tries to keep it light hearted, open and fun.
