Monika wrote:Most of fhe skeins seen at this time of the year, particularly those characteristic V-shaped ones, are pink-footed geese coming in from their breeding grounds on Greenland and Iceland and spending their winter here, some places like the WWF reserve at Minsmere receiving thousands of them. But, of course, they don't stay in one place and move about during the winter, hence their flights in different directions.

They will leave us again in early spring, back to their northern breeding grounds.

Hi Monika,

Minsmere is about as far south as they come. We don't usually see them this far south, which is a shame.
Cheers PJ.

I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long...........

Looks as if most of us are in for another gorgeous day today, a real bonus at this time of the year.

Even if the grass is still growing. :)

Morning OH,

Your right about the grass still growing. I should have cut it yesterday, as it's a bit drizzly this morning :)
Cheers PJ.

Very strong winds here through the night and still here this morning.
Now, will it have blown the leaves off, or onto the large gravel drive where i am working today, worries i have.

Morning OH,

Pretty windy here as well this morning. Mind you it usually is :)
Think of all that potential leaf mould you'll have with added gravel for drainage
Cheers PJ.

After a very wet night, it is nice and calm here this morning. Looks like it might be a nice day :)
I'm off to the sunny metropolis of Hastings for the morning to get a few travel items needed for my trip to Uganda the week after next.
The trip to visit my son is a bit unexpected, and I'm just getting used to the idea of sitting on his balcony once again looking at all the wonderful exotic birds and insects :D
I don't know how I'll cope
Cheers PJ.

Morning PJ, nice and bright here too, but my hands are just getting a bit of feeling back in them after some serious Brussel Sprout picking.

Hope you have the best of times while staying with your Son in Uganda.

Do you know i can't place where Uganda is, is it just up from Skegness. :? :)
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

A nice still morning out there at present, but a real nip in the air.
