Spent the morning on my new plot. Half of it is now weed free. The other half isn't too bad, so will be even easier. We've got lovely light sandy soil on our site as well, which makes digging a pleasure :)
Put some hardboard over the inside of the window in the shed to keep prying eyes away. Not that anything of value will be in there. Put some hooks up and even had time to try out my chair that I took down there :D
There is an area at the far end of the plot about 15 feet long that is piled up weeds and soil that has been there for at least seven years and covered with plastic. I shall gradually go through that over the winter and barrow the soil back on to the rest of the plot to raise the level up a bit.
All in all it's starting to look good :D

Clearing and mulching the veg beds, picking a late crop of sweet desert grapes, handy for taking to my elderly Mum, she is in hospital at the moment
as she didn't respond an to antibiotic course at home, so they are giving it IV. Won't be on line as much because taking the opportunity to get more gardening done and visits to Mum. Sunshine still forecast for the next couple of days.

Another glorious day. Picked 8 lbs of Sloes so that's Christmas sorted. Lots of migrating House Martins yesterday but none today - perhaps they've all gone now.

Forgot how nice it is to have a run of dry days, certainly makes my job a lot easier. :)

How right you are. I always feel sorry for anybody taking one over in the middle of summer when the weeds are waist high.
I've had my eye on this one for a while, ever since I heard that the previous tenant was vacating it :)
Just trying to get as much done this week as I can, as I'm away in Suffolk next week :)

It's really beginning to look and feel like autumn is well into its stride now. The hens and ducks aren't out till after breakfast and they're in bed by six in the evening. There's grass frost most mornings and temperatures are forecast to fall in the next few days. Just started enjoying the late crop of French beans from the polytunnel, so hope they'll hold out till next month.

If intending to weedkill that is the best time as vigorously growing plants react most to weedkiller. :)
