Gone at last!

THANK THE LORD !!!

Have finally picked the last courgette and the last handfull of beans. Have been trying for ages to reduce the freezer mountain but all that fresh produce just kept coming. I do enjoy growing it but do you ever sometimes find your harvests a bit overwhelming?

My last courgettes went in the the last batch of tomato soup this morning.

I've just picked the last of the courgettes and consigned the plants to the compost bin. Can't say I'm sorry to see them go

Pity me, being in the SE mine are still growing counted six on just one plant!

I'm not off the hook yet. Have got about 15 lbs of grapes to pick and as we don't want the hassle of making wine this year, I'm scratching my head what to do with them. Might try seeing if I can dry them and turn them into sultanas.

My courgettes have only just taken off into full production, after their lack of effort during the summer! I brought home 8 yesterday and there are lots more growing. Oddly enough, there is no sign of mildew so far either (jinxed it now) whereas previous years, the plants have usually succumbed by now.

I have missed the courgettes this year....it was always a joy to arrive on the plot and marvel at how many fruits had developed since my last visit...even though I was at a loss to know what to do with them all.

I've got about six courgettes left four yellow and two green. I have just picked four cauliflowers heads which although not very big were very well formed. I planted them late this summer. I was quite suprised that I got any. I have got lots of curly kale and tuscan kale I am sure I will be fed up of it soon.

I have the same problem Primrose just finnished the fruit from the grape vine I fed into the greenhouse and the outside ones have ripened, the vines are so heavy that they pulled the pergola over in a strong gust of wind,while I was under it and I had to use a ladder to prop them up and save the crop !

An easy idea for using courgettes, grate squeeze surplus liquid make into balls and freeze, at your leisure in winter take out as needed to add to cakes, smoothies, or make fritters etc.

As well as the half plot I already have, I took on another one as from today.
Went to do a bit of tidying up on there and the first thing I saw was a courgette plant with seven courgettes ready for picking
You just can't get rid of them can you
Mind you, it's not all bad, as there are some sprouts, kale, a pear tree and some damsons, along with a large shed and a sort of low lean-to greenhouse on the side of the shed
Oh, and some strawberries and some compost bins. It's only a couple of plots away from my other one as well
