Do you use any software when drafting? Which one? Pencil and paper? Excel? I made a small application called "Kitchen garden aid" that you might want to checkout. Keeps track of crop rotation and companion planting. Its open source so its free. Requires Java 6.

That's very nice. I like the icons.
I was given a link to this application recently. I've not had much chance to use it yet, but it does not seem to integrate its database with the planting plans particularly well (that is, you have to input information twice). More for the professional rather than the back gardener.
