as I am starting to harvest veg grown in my small raised beds and pots wondering what kind of things can I grow from now to fill in the spaces and utilise the space -maybe should have been growing things from seed a while back i realise but this is first time growing veg and didn't think about how quickly would use stuff and therefore how quickly space would be available thanks

Hi You'regettingtoknowmoreallthetime
Things to sow now could include
French beans
beetroot
Swiss chard
lettuce (sow on a cool day only)
bunching (salad) onions
radish
courgette (worth a try for a late crop)

Glad to hear you have veen enjoying your first crops - well done. I would add carrots to Alan's list. One of the quick growing varieties such as Early nantes or Amsterdam Forcing. I've just sown some myself.

Green manure, green manure and more green manure. Or beans, carrots and lettuces. I have been digging up spuds and, as my leek seedlings have all died, I have sown Phacelia Tanacetifolia. I also have small brassica plants which are going to go in where I have just dug up the garlic. Brassicas take up a lot of room, but it does no harm to sow green manure in the meantime and hoe it in when the brassicas get sizeanle.

I keep forgetting something in answering posts about this topic: CORIANDER. This plant actually quite likes cooler weather and if sown in August - maybe even early September, should produce a crop before winter sets in.
