Evening Clive, today at work an old Army four propeller plane came over heading South East, nothing strange in that i know but, i'm sure the left hand side, inside propeller wasn't turning.
Just wondered if you know anything about it?
A little question for Clive.

Sorry, I know nothing........ can you elaborate on the aircraft type.??
....but it has given me something aviation to ponder on for a while...instead of everything else...........
Whilst in aviation mode...I did attend a rather nice friendly little airshow 5 miles up the road from here at East Kirkby last Saturday.

..and tonight, out West, a Spitfire was spotted barrel rolling about the evening sky.

At certain frequencies of revs a rotating object can appear stationary to the eye, because the eye processes what it sees in staccato. This accounts for strobe effects and also the apparent reverse movement of wheels on cars going at certain speeds; the wheel the suddenly seems to rotate in the other direction. So if one of the engines wasn't turning at the same number of revs as the other three that could possibly account for the illusion [?] of motionlessness.

Hi OH,
I would suggest that the engine was stationary and the propellor feathered.
This can be part of an exercise to practice flying with three engines but when I was in the game we used to practice flying on two engines with
with two feathered.
Of course it could be part of the new governments plan to cut flying by 25%
JB.

I set off to look for any sightings reported by others on a few forums that I sometimes frequent...

Now I've been having a further ponder....there was families day at Odiham yesterday..and I seem to think BBMF Lancaster was attending and also possibly Sally B the Duxford based B17..although the direction of travel does not quite tally....
A work colleague was visiting BBMF base..and she was excitedly telling me this morning about seeing the Lancaster land back home...so I enquired if it was running on 4 all ok....and was told that it was...
I can't find any reports of snag with the B17....but with its olive drab colour scheme and rounded wing/tail it could perhaps fit the Old Army description ?? http://i198.photobucket.com/albums/aa19 ... 20UK-1.jpg

Dear Clive, if only i knew.
I was cutting a lawn, on a ride on mower under some trees, when i thought there was a problem with the mower with the noise i heard.
But it was five low flying aircrat just above the trees.

No, they weren't Bi-planes Clive.
And it would have been more of a twirl with the washing line, as the customer has a rotary line.

There's a suggestion posted online that the aircraft is now to route via Norwich...then Netherlands...having lost a day on the trip to weather yesterday....
Changes the route a little....I'm getting a bit more hopeful of at least hearing it.....
