mangetout

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

my mangetout are not looking too good, about 2/3 of the pods look like they've got acne! they're all nobbley, some of the nobbles are black and some of the pods are curled also some of the leaves are also a bit damaged looking with black bits.
any suggestions as to what could be causing this? they were fine last year.
could it be that the plants are a bit overcrowded? i planted way too many seeds this year as most of the seedlings got eaten last year, i covered them with a mini polytunnel so most of them came up and i didnt really thin them.
advice greatly appreciated.

Hi Meow,
I would suggest to you that your crop of Mangetout needed picking some time back and that they have simply gone over the top for picking.
My only suggestion is that you allow them to grow to absolute maturity and pick them for seed. You will not need that many for seed.
I have had to break this bad news to another person yesterday morning
in the village where I live.
JB.
