tomatoe plants

Need to know the best time to plant?

My alicante tomatoe plants are all forked at the butt. Both stems are growing healthy but is this normal for this variety

Hi Gerry

I haven't grown Alicante for 20 years now, so I don't know if it's normal. But you can train both cordons and get a bigger crop.

Yes, I think a thread last year dealt with this one. Neither stem is a sucker and they'll both fruit well. However, i don't attempt to grow all that many morte toms; it just means that my supporting cane doesn't have to ne so tall!
