Springwatch 2010

I have thoroughly enjoyed this years Springwatch and in my humble opinion it has been the best ever. The presenters were marvellous...what a combination...Chris Packham and Simon King! So much knowledge and their enthusiasm and love of all creatures great and small shone out. Even kate Humble didn't get on my nerves this year!

The photography was absolutely top notch (dare I say... awesome) and the wildlife...oh wow! The joys, the heartbreak,the dramas and sheer beauty of them all had me glued to my telly. Everything stopped for Springwatch. This is the first year I have been able to watch the live webcams and I have found it to be truly addictive.
I am really going to miss this programme!

I did think the live underwater filming was a mistake though. Maybe technically very good but not good to watch or listen to.

I also enjoyed Springwatch more do doubt due to the annoying Bill Oddie not being in much evidence. I must agree that the underwater filming was boring.

I would enjoy the idea of Springwatch if all the presenters were more laid back like Chris Packham rather than the hyped up, over intense and in your face style of the other presenters especially that Kate Humble.

The other nature programme I enjoyed recently was Halycon River filmed by ??? the wildlife photographer whose name I'm embarrassed to have forgotten. Did anybody else see it? I really enjoyed the way he was trying to introduce his young boys to nature and the wonderful and sometimes delightfully perverse way in which they responded. And I found it very touching the way he tried so hard to save the life of the abandoned baby kingfisher, fishing for live minnows every day to try and keep it alive, and his sadness when it suddenly died on him.

Yes I saw it and was very envoius of where the family lived.

It made me smile when the boys were watching the webcam and said can we go on the playstation now!!

Ah-Kate Humble,the girl who likes to dance naked in the sunshine-which is not half as annoying as Chris Packham going on about his two poodles,Itchy and Scratchy,whenever he can!!

I wholeheartedly agree with you regarding the daft poodle bits and I also didn't like Chris Packham's Geek spot. But the rest of it was so enjoyable, I forgave them those! Even the underwater coverage had me hooked. Simon King is wonderful to listen to...well, not underwater!

As for Kate Humble...well, I've never been a fan of hers but away from Bill Oddie, I was able to tolerate her this year!
I had got to the point of not watching these programmes anymore due to Bill Oddie's strange behaviour. I know he is ill (I think he suffers from Bi-polar disorder which explains a lot) but he drove me nuts and I couldn't bear to watch it.
Overall this has been a brilliant series and I have withdrawal symptoms already!

Hi I agree with you Elaine about Springwatch this year, and anything that encourages people to become more aware of our wildlife and gives ideas of what we can do to help - well thank goodness for them!
Also, good to see Wild Night in raising money for the BBC Wild Life Fund - reminds us we can all do a little something to help make the world a better place to live and remind us what we do effects everything else across the globe.
