Hi folks. What I'd like to know is, what method of watering do YOU use ? Here in Bristol, it's been really dry. I'm tempted to give my carrots a good dose of water. However, I've heard/read that it's better to let carrots chase the water, therefore encouraging longer roots. Any thoughts ?
Cheers...freddy.

I'd water when they are very small, Freddy, but once they've put on a bit of growth I'd let them chase the water, as you say.

Hi.
Thanks for the advice. Thing is, I have two lots growing, in the same bed. Some are just seedlings, but the others are getting going. I decided to give them a good drenching.
Cheers...freddy.

Hello Freddy
Once the carrots have formed you will need to be more careful with watering. If for example the roots have become dryish and you then water well or there is a good soaking of rain then the roots are likely to split. At this stage I find that its best to keep the roots moist all the time.
