There are plenty of prominent signs above and amongst the plants, advising that they must be protected from frosts, yet year after year, folk plant out their treasures as early as Easter weekend, only to have to buy another lot when the frost wipes them out.

The owner of our local independent garden centre told me that they have to put out bedding plants for sale earlier every year as places like B&Q put them out so early that they lose business if they wait until the sowing conditions are right.
Frost alert!

We have been away from home for a week and a half, in Italy. Our really good friend on the allotment has been looking after our plot and has done us proud, we have lost nothing on our plot and she has even covered our potatoes so we did not lose them. We have had cool weather with showers apparently very unusual for the area in Italy. We had to light a wood burner every night with an electric blanket at night.!!!!
Hopefully everything will pick up as tonight we have left more or less everything out tonight because the weather is supposed to be alot warmer.

Evening Clive, it's amazing how quick potatoes do recover from a good frosting, this warm weather will also help.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
