As we sat at breakfast this morning, one lone white vapour trail flew across the cloudless sky. After the peace of the last five days, it was almost like a rude two fingered salute to those who have been enjoying the peace and quiet.
Our car, parked in the driveway now has quite a coating of grey (presumably volcanic dust on it) and I'm sure I caught a whiff of sulphur in the air.
I agree with what was said on here earlier. It's almost as if nature is getting its revenge for all the harm we mortals have brought to our planet. Let's face it, overall, the majority of the population are greedy and materialistic, wanting to take far more resources than the earth can naturally provide. They're all for "Green" policies as long as they can be exempt from them and avoid paying any penalty themselves. They'll fight to avoid paying Inheritance Tax so they can leave money to their children, but don't seem to worry about leaving them a wrecked, deforested planet which has been concreted over to house a population growing out of control. It's a sobering thought but if we all got to the Pearly Gates and were asked to provide a summary of how well we had individually looked after our planet, I wonder what marks out of 10 we would all would be given.
Now where is my soap box ??

Hi Catherine
Otherwise known as vapour trails. "Contrails" is, I suspect, a jargon term invented by those in the know to fox the likes of us

I feel sorry for all the folks stranded in their holiday countries but even sorrier for all the Armed Forces people stuck out in Afghanistan, awaiting their replacements or flights home for either R&R or the end of their tour. My son still has a month to go but I still feel for all the thousands who are affected.
Cheers.
Cheers.
Happy with my lot

Airlines refuse to compensate delayed passengers.
Airlines demand compensation for losses from governments (i.e. taxpayers).
Dream on!

or was it Clive's bonfire?
Hello Geoff,
Not guilty.....
I read about this yesterday tea time on the Fighter Control Forum....the suggestion I think was that the Typhoons were called back in about 3-30pm-ish
Many airliner overflights noted today....
Clive.
I'm told the Icelandic economy is dying - but as a last wish, it asked for it's ashes to be scattered all over Europe!
If you've ever wondered about all those vapour trails in the sky and want to know what's going where then try this site:

You can zoom the map to see exactly who is flying over your back garden.

3 Aer Lingus airliners seem to be currently heading our way along the N. Norfolk coast in almost formation..will give them a couple of minutes and go give them a wave.

I should have added that this flightradar site works best with Firefox as your browser.
