Hi Elle.
If I wasn't feeling grotty with a cold and a splitting headache that's been with me since before Christmas, I'd be feeling quite smug!

Not only is there still virtually no snow here, but my cupboards are now re-stocked with enough food to keep us going for another three weeks. The delivery van made it here at 6pm without any problems. Just as well, because the roads around here have been too icy for me to get to the shops by bike now for several weeks. I did make it to the allotment on it this afternoon, though, and picked all the sprouts I could. It was too frozen to lift any more leeks, though!

I was about to say that it can snow as hard as it likes now. Then I remembered that if it does that, son number two won't be able to get to work tomorrow and will probably eat half of the food that has just been brought. Not to mention the loss of peace and quiet, loss of control of the TV etc .... :(

That will teach me to feel smug!

Morning OH

We did once have real snow here (that is, more than a foot deep, lasting for a week or so of following frost), but that was in spring of 2004. Everything since has been light and/or has disappered quickly.
Look forward to seeing you in sunny NW Wales :x

I'll start packing my campaign trunk straight away.

Now shall i fly in by helicopter or take the snowmobile, if i take the latter i should be able to get within 50yards of my destination. :)

I've looked at the five day forecast, and there's no snow forecast. You may run out of snow a lot further than 50 yards away

Morning OH.

Yes, it reached here.

But son number two still managed to get to work, so who cares?

Ok, my students have cancelled this afternoon's lesson because of the snow so ,as usual, I've no income when the weather turns bad, but the way I've felt the last few days I might have ended up cancelling it myself. At least this way I didn't have to make the decision, so I don't feel guilty guilty as well as ill! There's a positive side to everything if you look hard enough.

Dear Bert, i was just wondering if you could be suffering from a touch of sinusitis, i had a bad bout of it back in August. Of course i just kept leaving it before i went to the Doctors and ended up with my teeth, jaw and just about every part of my head hurting.

On the positive side, the rest of me was fine. :)

Hope your soon feeling a lot better.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Heavy snow here overnight and it's been snowing again since about 10 a.m. We've cleared the snow from under a small magnolia bush, covered it with a large fleece and put a seed tray and lots of bird food out under it. There has been an incessant stream of birds arriving there all day to feed. At one point there were 15 blackbirds all fighting to get their share. We can't make up new containers of fatty oats fast enough to meet supply and demand.

We have also been warned about possible power cuts in our area today, so torches, wind-up lanterns and candles are at the ready !

Your diagnosis is probably spot on, Doctor OH, because that's a pretty accurate description of how I feel at the moment. :(

What I need now is a virtual prescription, so I don't have to cycle eight miles through the snow to get to the doctor's and back!!!

I don't think my catapult would quite reach you, with the message that i dare not put on here Alan. :)

Dear Bert, i had to resort to some very strong antibiotics to shift mine in the end, and that was a last resort.

Maybe i should have gone to the Doctors earlier.

If it is sinusitis, i really can sympathize, it even made me feel grumpy for more than a week.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
