We had our snowfall Sunday evening but not really any depth to it. The freezing conditions mean it has hung around and is very icy and crunchy.
Love Clive's dramatic picture - I wouldn't want to be under one of those icicles when it decided to fall off.
We have snow this morning.

Peter,
You are in fact correct....I have just been and double checked.
I thought it had done like on the East side where it has bellied the poorly Marley guttering out..
It's good to have these things correct..
They're not moving anywhere at present..28.4F.

The greens look a bit frightened....some Broc' at each end of the left hand row has been laid flat by the snow...which was ok when cold dry powdery but once it was added to by the drizzly wet last evening has done some flattening of things....

We've just been up town...roads and pavements are a bit poorly up there... much packed ice...but we've got the provisions in..
On arriving home an old friend has called in with a Christmas delivery for Mum & Dad. Snow and ice has not stopped his travels...
....he's a busy chap at this time of year in fact he's just back from Wolverhampton with his Reindeer & Sleigh.
...actually he's a LandRover/Transit and trailer driver, Reindeer handler, and occasional Elf...
...and our old next door neighbour...

No snowfalls in Bedford, sorry. But the snow of the previous days has not melted, at least on the ground. [I was stashing some stuff in the boot of my car yesterday when a whole lot slid off and went down my neck, so it did thaw a little where the sun got to it.] Now it's raining and it'll freeze again tonight.
I went to the plot on Monday and the broad beans were not looking happy in the cold. I hope we'll get some next year off Mikes Manurial Estates.

We went shopping to T***o on Tuesday I had an optician appointment at 5pm. I thought it would not be a problem to get there an back, about 6 miles each way. How wrong. It started snowing (soft hail) on our way home and we only just made it up our road as one of the last to get through, 4 x 4's could get there, we have a Megane Scienic. My OH backed the car on to our steep drive and I attempted to get out, with one foot on the floor and the rest of my body half off the seat suddenly the car started to slide,
I leapt out just in time as the car slid down the drive and into the road.
We had to leave it there till we had cleared the drive for at least the sixth time. Then it backed up okay and we put rocks in front of the wheels.
We have about six inches now.
It is snowing as I type and the road again is starting to fill with snow.
My mother in law has not been able to get out of her road for six days as the gritters dont do her country lane, it is not on the roster we have been told.
So we have to park at the top of the hill and walk a mile and a half to take her provisions. We have complained but it has made no difference.
The temperature in the garden this morning is minus 0.2C or 31.5 F.

Last night put us in the path of a Met Office severe weather warning
So what's it like this morning
No snow, no sleet, no ice, starry sky and temperatures above freezing

They are playing with you Alan, you just wait and see, in the morning you will have to dig yourself out.
or you will be sunbathing in the garden. I have given up watching the weather forecast cause it keeps telling us it is going milder doesnt look like it from where I am sitting.

Indeed Alan, i think it's the calm before the storm.
Dear Catherine, it is scarey when a vehicle is out of control, even at the slowest of speeds.
Hope your Mother in law soon gets free from the clutches of the weather.

Still rather cool out here in Lincolnshire, just on 32F at the moment...with terribly icy surfaces.
Historically this next week is when I like to get the Winter digging done at home........

Yesterday was the worst ever here - no nice snow but
black ice. Had to go to work and our 10mins took 40mins.
No roads gritted (confirmed by our taxi friend who worked
the night before). People falling and cars spinning around
on the bypass.
When I got to work they porters hadn't salted the entrances
and loads of staff with bumps and bruises falling down after
suffering the fear of getting to work was the final insult.
Then it rained -yipee, then sunshine, then last night the
mother of hail storms complete with thunder & lightning so
had the whole lot from Mother Nature.
I knew I should have bought her a card - not the kind of
lady to upset!!

This was a couple of days ago when things were really beautiful. It's very different now, because it's been thawing all day.
I'm still not sure if my mum and dad will be able to make it down from Yorkshire tomorrow, as planned, because they were still snowed in this morning!
