Has anyone been watching Alan Bennett on BBC ?Like Stephen Fry I could listen to this man endlessly, his observation is wonderful.I was born in Yorkshire so his accent is lovely and little references that remind me of my childhood are nothing short of delicious.And....he's on most of the week,Christmas has come early for me

As we don't have a TV, I didn't see the interview, but I should have loved to. I, too, find Alan Bennett exceedingly funny and I always take two or three of his smaller books, like Talking Heads, with me to read at airports. It quite makes me forget the long waiting times, and I can read them again and again.
Alan Bennett's holiday home (actually the last house of his late parents) is not far from us and I always hope to see him strolling through the village!

Yes, I watched him. I love his writing and a whole week-end devoted to him was a real treat. He's such a great observer of human behaviour. A couple of years ago we saw the stage production of his Lady in a Van, which was excellent, and his Untold Stories is a wonderful read. And I love the casting for his Talking Heads. Some brilliant matches of author and actresses. Do hope he doesn't decide to retire yet and disappear from the scene.

Yes like Stephen Fry is, and Peter Eustinov was Bennett is an exceptional speaker and a commentator of real life and social construction.
Try listening / watching Sir Rannulph Fiennes, equally an eloquent speaker
