peas and mice

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

Johnboy - I bet the squirrels just LOVE your 1000 feet of hazel hedge. Do you ever manage to get there before them in the nut harvesting season?

Do you know Primrose the buggers much prefer my Filberts and they forget the hedges and make a bee line for them every year. I know this may upset you but in order to protect my Filberts I shoot them. (not the Filberts!) I think that the total this year is 16 and there are still masses of the buggers about!

No Johnboy, this doesn't upset me. When you grow a crop for food, you have no alternative but to kill the pests which ravage it. We're fortunate that we don't have any chickens or nut sources that our visiting squirrels or foxes can destroy so we can just enjoy them for themselves. I suspect that if I grew nuts for an income or kept poultry I would hold a rather different view.
