My sister lives near allotments and mice come into her loft space so we put down some traps. Recently a gas fitter needed to come and do some work in her loft but said he wasn't allowed to go up again until we removed the three dead mice. He siad it was health and safety regs?

When we last suffered a mice infestation in our garage (when we were stupid enough not to store our peanuts for the birds in a mouseproof container) we were absolutely astounded how many peanuts they had stolen from the sack and stashed away. All the garage shelves were littered with them, old pots and boxes were full, and behind my OH's stack of pieces of wood "which might come in useful one day", the floor was almost one inch deep in peanuts. They'd certainly arranged things so that they didn't have to travel far for their next meal

well, after a few weeks, it seems the mice have had most of the corms. We had covered with various different types of thing, plastic sheet, secure all round, plastic netting, buried around the edge, glass etc etc. Well, the have managed to burrow underneath everything and we have only a very few from the 1000 I planted left. Looks like I'll be lucky to get enough for my bouquet, let alone the table vases & corsages.
Very depsondent.

Dear Retropants, how disappointing for you, i really am sorry to read this.
If there is any consolation, at least you will have time to source some ready grown ones somewhere, i know this won't be the same though.

Life really does know how to chuck the spanner in the works sometimes.

Just to cheer you up a little, but don't get used to it, i'm sure on the day you will look just gorgeous, flowers or no flowers.

Fingers crossed still, you will still get enough for your bouquet.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Thankyou OH!

it would have been nice to see if I could do it though, It was quite a challenge, one that really didn't get much of a chance really. Never mind, as you say, I can always order some now. But, no, it won't be the same.

Dear Retropants, i'm sure you would have grown some fantastic blooms if it wasn't for the mice.

Dear Retropants, i was just wondering if the big day has passed, or whether it is about to happen?

Which ever one it is, i hope it either went well or will go well. :)
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
