Just been on TWITTER, and apparently J.M has cancelled all forthcoming events because of food poisoning.

Only joking. :)

Well, it'll all be over now, so she'll be on here soon enough. Is everybody ready for this?

Maybe Tigger forgot to take her purse and couldn't pay, so she's still there washing up. :)

Maybe James poisoned her - or did they run off together? Or sped off with her riding pillion!

Well - more than 8 hours driving in pouring rain but for 2 hours in the company of the gorgeous one. No contest.

Lovely food. Great ingredients.

He's agreed to do another iterview for KG based on his last book on seasonal veg and seasonal recipes. I've been given his PR contact for Harper Collins.

I think Tigger is showing typical symptoms of self-indulgence. :)

I suppose it was quite embarrassing, being noticed dribbling in the soup while J.M was talking.

OK - more detail.

There were 8 of us. He was doing the cooking (obviously) and his sous chef - Chris Start - was at his beck and call. The chap who works in the deli was chief washer up and general serf.

The deli is quite small, much smaller than it looks on the TV, so he was within touching distance at all times, not that I did, of course. He was wearing his cheffy white jacket with jeans and trainers. It was all very relaxed and chatty.

So what did we have? Cheese and chilli jam on toast, whilst he waited for Chris to park his car. Fab cheese made by Montgomery's that you can only get in his deli or Borough market, a great big piece of which is sitting in our fridge that he cut for me.

Then pan fried mackerel served with radishes and shallots that had been cooked like you do vichy carrots in water, butter and sugar. Should have been cod cheeks in beer batter with homemade tartare sauce next but the fishmonger didn't have any cod cheeks so we had gougons of cod instead.

Duck cooked in honey sliced over a mixture of cabbage, pancetta, chestnuts, shallots, garlic and thyme. Followed by fillet of beef cooked in cling film in the oven at 65 degrees for 15 minutes, with mashed potatoes, a 'stew' of white beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, jerusalem artichokes and onions, with a wine reduction.

Pudding was pan fried plums with herbs, madelines and ice cream. Very scrummy.

Then it was chatting and asking questions. He served up the purchases from the deli and that's when I asked him about doing another interview. He remembered me from Malvern (or he didn't and lied!) and I told him that KG was sold out that month which amused him. I think that's why he agreed to do another one.

It was really good. Very ordinary, just as he was at Malvern, but very gorgeous. He's going to do some more in February, so I might have to try it out again. 8)
