OK - I was trying to resist starting this thread until at least the second week of April, but Piglet has dared me to do otherwise and who am I to resist a challenge?

What are we going to bring for our lunch Chatterbox Gang?

At this stage, I'm avoiding anything to do with Tomatoes, as they are this year's disaster. I'm hoping to get Lyndon to make some of his wonderful breads, and raid the (low alcohol - as we're driving) wine cellar. He'll also do a dessert or two. I thought I would make a fish pate or a mousse, some schnitzel and potato salad, some other salad and maybe a quiche or a tart.

What do you think?

Just ordered my ticket! Looking forward to meeting you all - particularly Johnboy, who I've been arguing with for about 4 years now. Bags I bring the asparagus quiche. It's about the only thing I'll have harvestable then! And some blackcurrant cordial for the drivers amongst us (better go put it in the freezer before hubby drinks it all!)

Welcome Jenny - you're an unexpected bonus!

Up 'til now, we think the picnic includes Chantal, Johnboy, Allan and Pam, Piglet and Mrs P, Lyndon and I (Margaret). Lakeview (Nancy) may join us if she can.

If there's anyone else out there, please join in. The only rules (?) are the foods you bring must be either home grown or home made.

Obviously, we're planning to meet at lunchtime, although most of us will be there for the day.

Piglet has alerted us to the extraordinary interest in the show this year, so it's imperative that you buy your ticket in advance rather than relying on getting admission on the day.

Sounds good Tigger. We are planting our asparagus bed this spring so am looking forward to tasting your quiche Jenny.

I will bring some scones, proper coleslaw, jams and chutneys, cold cuts, a chocolate gnash cake and a baked cheesecake.

If you have a blackcurrant cordial recipe Jenny, can you post it please as we have a dozen bushes.

Piglet - I just checked and I can see I posted the blackcurrant cordial recipe a while ago. It's under blackcurrant ideas in the recipes section right at the bottom of the page.

Piglet, what's 'proper coleslaw'? I have a special family 'recipe' (certain ingredients, but not measured) that my Thanksgiving (there she goes again) guests really like (no modesty here). Is there a chance I could 'swap' with you?

Hi Lakeview,

by proper I meant homemade rather than bought. I dont measure anything just judge whats about right, cabbage, carrots, onion, celery plus a bit of seasoning and mayo. All mandolined and mixed in a big bowl. Mrs Piglet like to add raisins and all sorts of other things but I prefer it simple.

I may be coming but will be delaying a decision until at least after Easter as I have a lot of driving to do in the intervening period and I am not sure how I will feel about it by then. And the question will also be, should I spend the day there or on the garden?

Still, will be going to the Autumn show as will have more spending money then.

I must say, i'm going a bit green with jealousy here. I think i'll throw my dummy out of my pram now and have a tantrum. WAAAAAAAAAAA, i wnt to go, i want to go WAAAAAA.
