Is it or isnt it?

Well bugger it, I have gone for it today. There is spawn in the pond, every trek to the greenhouse is a case of stepping over toads and newts and the greenhouse heater is staying off most of the time. It at least feels like spring.

I planted 200 red baron onion sets today and finally finished manure moving, it just needs digging in. A bean frame was fabricated out of scaffold pipe in a permanent position and 10 inch of manure dug in ready for planting in May.

In some ways I am glad that its forecast rain in Leicester tommorow as things are getting out of hand in the greenhouse. I pricked out nicotiana, rudbekia and calendula into 40 cell per tray inserts last week and now they need potting on big time. Coupled to that I have to pot on a huge raft of peppers and chillies with the second batch of tomatoes ready next week for the same. All the gherkins, courgette and cucumbers are just up and will need putting in 4 inch pots next week as well. Heeeeelllllllllpppp

I am scratting around trying to find enough pots and trays to put everything in. Its a good job I am off shift until Thursday Tigger to give your adoptees the care they require before handover in May.
Kindest regards Piglet

Here is sussex it has just been rain, rain and more rain. We need it though.

I did manage an hour saterday morning getting in 4 rows of early and second early spuds and gigging in more manure. It then got too wet so retired to the greenhouse for a bit of fiddling around.

It is so mild and forecasted to stay so for a week that I am now hardening a few things off in cold frames, the sweet peas will be put outside soon as they have been in a cold frame for 4 or 5 weeks.

The next big job is getting the bean trench sorted but it needs to dry up a bit first!

But....still plenty of time for frost!

Piglet - the adoption papers are ready! I can accommodate a large family. I can even post you some pots if you want.

I still don't have the mearest hint of anything emerging from my propogators. I blame the Vermiculite. It can't be the seed, 'cos something would have grown. The compost has been successful in other trays - flowers, carrots, courgettes, cuttings, etc. The only common factor is a new bag of Vermiculite which I'm not happy with as it's more like clay dust.

I went to all the trouble of starting off my Red Baron onions early and despite the fact the've got great roots and green shoots - they've gone mouldy because of the d**n Vermiculite.

Good job I'm on 2 weeks leave and have the time to start again.

Saturday, Bath v Leicester, rain won day, Leicester, to my son's delight won the rugby.

Water proof coat  , do NOT talk to me about water proof coats.

Delinquents who delayed our departure to the match had to wear bra's for the match, so we were the nutters at the end of the open stand with a guy wearing a red bra on his head.

Asked the one lady delinquent "What's your punishment then?", to be told "Whose bra do you think he (pointing) is wearing.", "Mmm it's still warm." said male delinquent.
The ladies had run out of spare bra's :!:    .

Peter,

This Saturday Tigers v Bath at the walkers stadium, quarter final of the European Cup and guess who is at work. Bugger

At least the Tigers ground is 1000% better than the council park that Bath attempt to play Rugby on  Thw Walkers stadium is bigger and newer but lacks the atmosphere of Welford Road.
