Do you have to work to the sound of Come all ye faithful amongst the mince pies?

Dear Glallotments.
Unfortunately, yes. My heart sinks when the store starts the Christmas "music". And there are only so many times you can listen to "Jingle bell rock" etc. etc ad nauseum, without going barmy. Most of the time I can "tune it out" but by Christmas Eve, I am absolutely sick of it!
I don't buy mince pies either, though they are rather nice for "shop bought" stuff. I make them for everyone else but don't feel inclined to eat them myself!
Cheers.

Perhaps the first one of us to get locked up can send the other a cake with a file in it!

Dear Johnboy, glallotments, Pongeroon and especially Lizzie,( whose sentiments I heartily agree with!)
Thank gawd I'm not the only one.....what a relief! Most of my workmates think I'm mad not to like Christmas! :o Thankfully, my immediate family all feel the same as me, so it doesn't cause a problem.

As someone has already said on here, "Each to their own".

Cheers.

Ooooh that's wicked! How about a nice bit of Christmas cake instead? A mince pie sized file would be a bit labour intensive......

Hi Glallotments,
Strangely I simply adore Christmas Cake without the Marzipan and Icing.
So I suppose it is a good rich fruit cake I like and absolutely nothing to do with, dare I say again, Christmas!

Hi Johnboy. I love rich fruit cake too and your right...it doesn't have to be called ..erm...anything other than Rich fruit cake really! I quite like the icing and marzipan too but am quite happy to eat it without, in which case a nice bit of Wensleydale cheese goes a treat with it. ( nothing to do with Wallace or Grommit either, though I love 'em! )
Cheers.

If I was having a fruit cake it would have to be a light coloured one - I hate candied peel. My sister makes a delicious chocolate cake with a ganache on the top which is made from chocolate and cream. Cadbury's of course.

When I was a child I just ate the icing off the X cake 'cos I don't like marzipan either. I think eating with cheese is a Yorkshire thing as friends from other parts of the country tell me they haven't heard of such a strange habit

Ooh, I don't know Gallotments, my Father was born and bred in Surrey and he loves rich fruit cake and cheese, I think Stilton is his particular favourite. I prefer the Wensleydale myself.
Kind regards,

I don't really like fruit cake, except for my old Mums which is yummy.

I adore sticky toffee pudding which I make for Grockie every year, for my mum and one for us too. It's a James Martin receipe and is totally yummy although not suitable for the slimmers. It has a whole pack of butter and half a pint of cream and that's just in the toffee sauce

As for the Christmas music in shops........it drives me mental..... I can't stand it. Only song worth it's salt, in my opinion, is Fairy Tale of New York.
Lots of love

The rest is totally **$$$%£%%£%£%

What really annoys me is the enforced jollity of the whole thing. Makes my blood boil. I'm me.......and I can't stand Christmas for person reasons. It brings back some really sad memories and it just opens wounds again.

I'm going to find an island and vegitate on there till it's all over I think
Lots of love
