Redrow are going to to open up their mothballed building sites and build houses rather than flats for the buy to sell market because here in South Wales the market is saturated with these flats.
A spokesman referred to a site of 30 houses being built at an average cost of £134,000, £40,000 cheaper than this time last year.
My question is, was last year"s price inflated,after all it will probably take the same number of weeks to build each house and with the same materials at a preferential cost to them.
I reckon that their mark-up is100% on the new price which puts last years price at 150% or thereabout.
No wonder that we had inflation in the housing sector affecting so many people.Image

Yes.
However:-
There will be some cost reductions, in that they will have cut wage rates (freelance/casual staff) either directly or through sub-contractors. There may be some savings to be had in materials and they may have cut the marketing/promotional expenses.
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.
