Absolutely nothing to do with gardening...

I've recently come across a music site called Spotify which allows you to search for and listen to music, completely free of charge. There are occasional audio adverts (which you can't skip), but not so many that it's annoying. If you're having a party, for 99p you can have 24 hours advert free.

You can't download, just listen.

Go to http://www.spotify.com and download, it's BRILLIANT and far too good to keep to myself!

Hi Chantal
You may soon be able to have Spotify on your iPhone (if you have one) http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/pda/2009/jul/27/spotify-iphone-app-itunes
I still have lots of CDs and an MP3 player, so will stick to these. I am very old fashioned and like to have an indestructible copy of the music I buy (something tangible)
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

I saw that Stephen but although I have an iPod, I'm not sure I want an iPhone yet. I'm very into downloads for my iPod though, I love just being able to buy a couple of tracks off an album if I want to. The great thing now is that I can listen to tracks on Spotify and then download if I like them :D

Nah, they just get to listen to local radio in the greenhouse

Had friends round last night and spent a good hour or so wallowing in nostalgia on Spotify which meant listening to a LOT of Womble songs (alarmingly we all knew the words  ) and all sorts of other odds and ends from the 70s. I wouldn't want to actually own anything we listened to, but it was good for an evening's fun. :D

Hi Chantal,
there are quite a few sites like Spotify that have emerged in the last few months. I've not used Spotify but would be interested to know how many tracks you searched for that you were able to find and actually listen to?

I was using one at http://www.deezer.com for a while. It was pretty good and had nearly everything I looked for. However as time went on, I found that many of the tracks could be found but not actually played.

I understand that Deezer and a lot of these sites have hit problems with the Rights needed to make stuff available in various different countries. Just interested to know if Spotify has been able to overcome this or is starting to suffer too :?:
