We hit 30 degrees this afternoon, I'm not complaining, but not really the afternoon to do the ironing

Snap! Donedigging I did the ironing as well, that's the trouble with good weather you wash everything in sight .I needed guy ropes and a sherpa to navigate the small mountain a.k.a.my ironing basket
The OH bravely/foolishly mowed the lawn trouble is we keep getting sneaky showers so it's a case of getting the mower out when you can.
Just back from the allotment where this beautiful summer is bearing fruit.shh don't mention blight

Having had to give up weeding because of swarms of midges in the middle of the afternoon I wondered will global warming move them North? They are a problem here and even more so in Scotland but further south there are hardly any so logically they should move north as the weather gets warmer. Probably wishful thinking but the little buggers are becoming a real pain this year.

Well brilliant in fits and starts. I was just going out to some fruit picking and it is chucking it down again, so I'm getting on with wine making instead - 5 gallons of red currant wine to strain and put into demi-johns.

june was the wettest month of the year here, july has just caught up. we are getting some very heavy showers and strong winds. everyone seems to have forgotten that they were moaning at the heat two or three weeks ago.

Bit wet too on the drier side of England..
I got some Plums picked this morning..assisted by our step ladder climbing multi coloured cat..Committee Kittee... Then the rains arrived...
I did get some posts knocked in to retain the corrugated tin sides of an auxillary compost heap extension..then the rain intensified..and it was on to getting some Geraniums etc sorted and taken up to the Big House for the flower display ring.
Only 2 visitors braved the inclement weather to visit the gardens this afternoon..from Belgium....perhaps it was fine when they set off
As I type this the sun is streaming through the front door into the hallway..home of this 'puter....I'm going to have to draw the door curtain to see the screen

It was our Garden Fete open day at work today....only a brief glimpse of the sun around lunchtime but generally warm and it stayed dry 'til the light rain commenced just after we all got packed away....so that was well planned or fortunate
