I have had "real" flu twice in my life, the last one a couple of months ago and I can confirm that you feel totally dire. It makes me mad when I hear someone say, "I'm full of flu", when they have a cold. If it was flu, I can say from experience, they would not be walking around! I didn't have the energy, inclination or will, to leave my bed, I felt so bad and I'm not one to take to my bed when I'm ill. You then suffer with post viral something or other, for a while , feeling as if you have no energy or strength!
Primrose...don't get me started on customers in supermarkets! I work in the bakery department at Morrisons, and although we supply at least three sets of tongs for customers to select their Pick and Mix rolls, there are many who actually move the tongs aside to rummage around and select certain rolls with their fingers. I ask them very politely to use the tongs and am met with a) blank stare; b) confusion; c) rude reply. Makes my blood boil at the best of times.
Ask the staff if you can have them from the rack inside the bakery. We have a few customers who do this and I understand why! The majority of folk do use the tongs to select their rolls and others use bags to pick them up but it's the few who don't which really annoy us. Some customers have actually pointed out to the "hands on" brigade, that there are tongs and arguments have occurred!
Shop work can be so.....erm.....enlightening! Cheers!
Interestingly the vaccine is in 2 parts (when it comes). More of a logistical nightmare getting to everyone a fortnight apart.
Attended another de-brief today and biggest worry is staffing and maintaining services with the workforce affected. I expect retirees of any of the pubic services will get invited in as well as any healthy volunteers just to keep things ticking over. Can close the schools and delay operations a bit but still have accidents and medical emergencies so have to keep open. Same with the police and fire.
Lets hope it looses momentum. I am a litte pleased that I am that bit older for my own sake but still exerts worry over family and friends in the target age range.
