So, it looks like our meteorological goose may be cooked. But who knows: may turn out nice.
Allotment, but little achieved.

Extract from diary Tuesday 15 July 2008:

Fine all day - good sunny spells especially afternoon. Sowed French beans, picked raspberries and courgettes.

Of the following 40 days 20 were wet (remember last summer?) and 20 were fine.

A problem only if the ash came before the oak - which I bet it didn't :)

Which, like most of the "wise country lore" is a load of

Ahh country lore.

I have a friend that quotes rooks nesting high or low in the tree. High is
supposed to be good as they don't need the shelter of the foliage if it rains but I argue that maybe it is not and that they want to be much
higher in case it floods.

Yes, it's been lovely here in Devon today, too, a bit too windy but bright and sunny. So much for the weather forecast.

It was fine on Wednesday, rained yesterday afternoon, raining today:P

So there you have it - good old reliable Swithun

Mind you, the story goes that his other claim to saintly fame was that he once mended some broken eggs. Not as ambitious as our local St Beuno who successfully put St Winifred's head back on when she had been beheaded by a would-be lover/rapist.

A couple of showers on The Day...

Yesterday was fine...with some good sunshine in the afternoon...

Later, I just managed to get my bit of railway car park mown up in N.Lincs and then it came a sharp shower at 8pm as I was loading up the mower to return home..

Today...23mm had torentially fallen by breakfast time..good job we live on the drier side of the country. ....topped up with more heavy showers during the day..including some rather close lightning again...I was a bit windy of that after the extremely near strike the other day...

Heavy drizzle this evening and mighty windy  ...

Yep! showers on THE Day here too.
Luckily cut lawns yesterday as black sky loomed and just finished picking strawberries, some peas and broad beans when showers commenced.
Thursday Night/Friday early hours rain most of night and its literally hammered down all day - so perhaps had 40 days rain in one go :(
May have ducks flying in tommorrow to paddle in the new 'pond' at the bottom the garden
It's been so dark today looked like mid-winter.
Has anyone else noticed that the leaves on the trees have turned, possibly ready for an early autumn?
It may be that some little root of the sacred tree still lives. Nourish it then, that it may leaf and bloom and fill with singing birds. Black Elk
