lots of Mustard & Cress seed
Moderators: KG Steve, Chantal, Tigger, peter
Hi - Can anyone tell me where I can get larger quantities of mustard & cress seed? The small shop bought packets are quite expensive for a small amount. Its a project for a lot of little people - grow in egg shells and such like. We have a lot of little people for the summer hols and I wondered if this seed can be bought 'in bulk' as it were?

There's a cash'n'carry retailer called 'Makro', they sell coriander and two types of mustard seeds (yellow and black) in 665g containers for around £4.50 each (the coriander could be cheaper). I've successfully germinated all three types. Unfortunately access to the store requires a trade card, if you ask around you may know of someone who can get you in
A further option is to visit your local asian supermarket (if you have one) and buy some of their mustard seeds as sold for cooking purposes. The brand they all seem to stock is Rajah and they come in big packets though I couldnt tell you how many grammes in each pack.
Avoid upmarket brands as I suspect they have been treated somehow and they don't, in my experience, germinate. Come to think of it larger Tesco stores and Asda may stock them in their asian sections.
