Am I on the same planet? Over Tuesday and Wednesday we got 40 mm. There was a cloudburst here in bedford at lunchtime yeaterday and as I stepped out to walk to a meeting at 5 pm the heavens opened up and after 10 mins walk i had to sit in the meeting in bare feet, shoes and socks being absolutely wringing. And Bedford is supposed to be about the driest spot inthe country. Mind you, I gather they had flooding inparts of Yorkshire.
It's all come exactly at the right time for the spuds.

Mike, on Wednesday night I swam throught the rain as I floated home on the mid Hertfordshire strip-lake, otherwise known as the A10, but moving across towards Essex and my part of the world, it was a dry as parched wheat.

And we are still waiting for more rain! We had 17mm three days ago but that was the first decent rain for weeks and the ground is still completely dry under plants. For the last two days it's been dry, mostly sunny and rather windy, therefore really drying. I got the French beans, runner bans and late leeks planted before the rain and watered them in well.
It might be of interest that the first five months of this year were the driest five winter/spring months I have recorded in more than 20 years!

Dear Monika, didn't you have a bit of a dry spell as well last year, when the rest of us were having a deluge?
It must be so frustrating for you, when everyone else seem to be getting loads.

The washing machine has just decided to empty all the water out into the hall and front room, it could have been worse, it could have been in the kitchen and put cook out of action.

Morning Donedigging, on a more serious note for a minute, luckily the washing machine is still under warranty, and hopefully we are going to be able to claim off them for the carpets and damage as well, save going through the household insurance, will find out Wednesday.
On a brighter note, what a absolutely superb morning it is out there.
I can hardly wait to get at it.
