An irritating 'Cloggie' problem

I keep a pair of Cloggies by the kitchen door to slip into whenever I'm doing quick grubby work in the garden but now the weather is warming up I have bare feet rather than wearing socks. I always find that after a few minutes my feet get sweaty and when I come to slip the Cloggies off again, the inner sole always sticks to my feet and over time becomes rather ragged as I have to pull it off manually. Does anybody else have this problem or have an answer? I suppose I could always stick the inner sole down but last time I did this it tore away in pieces and it was the devil of a job getting a replacement inner sole.

Hello Primrose,

My Fine Young Man comandeered my cloggies ages ago, so I bought some dutch clogs when we were in Holland. They are the sort with leather uppers and wooden soles, so they don't make my feet sweaty/sticky even with no socks. They weren't very expensive, maybe they may be available online somewhere. The only problem with them is that they are a bit noisy, with me clomping up and down the garden path. They are very comfortable.

cjs - I did think about Crocks but unfortunately they have holes in them which irritatingly let in the earth if I have to walk onto the vegetable patch to pick a lettuce or something, which then gets traipsed back onto the kitchen floor. I may look out for some wooden clogs though. I tried wearing these so-called invisible stocking slip-ons which you use inside shoes but they're such a fag to put on and never stay on my feet.
