Up til now, all my windbreak mesh was a sort of very, very fine net with quite stiff mesh structure. It seems to do a good job, and I fix it with a mix of staples/ broad headed galvanised tacks.
I needed some more this year but couldn't find the same sort anywhere. So I ended up buying a product which is quite soft to the touch and thicker, without having a net like appearance. They seem to sell it everywhere now instead of the other stuff.
How am I supposed to fix it up? I put some up yesterday, but it is so soft you could see that it wouldn't take long to pull itself off the tacks.

I think you are refering to the green mesh that is used on scaffolding to stop things dropping off. I have used it as a wind break along 1 side of a plot and it works really well. You can buy it from builders merchants.

How about securing it to the posts with a batten of wood so that it grips the material against the post. Tack it to the post first and it should be fairly secure.

The stuff I have is quite stiff but as I had it given not sure what its exact purpose is we are very exposed here as we are only 100 metres from the coast we have fixed it as Jerry said with wooden battens to the posts then with cable ties to the chainlink fence HTH G
