Where do you get plasticine seeds or bulk supplies of plasticine? James May says his garden attracts bees so perhaps decoy plasticine cabbages would fool the butterflies.

The sunshine here in Milton Bryan is nearly unbearable.

As promised here is the result of the potato dig - they weren't ready! 10th March to 23rd May obviously isn't long enough, interesting the Maris Bard are ahead of the Rocket. I dug the Bard first and assumed the Rocket would be ahead or I would have left them.

Dear Geoff, how strange the Rocket is behind the Bard, i for one would have certainly thought it would be the other way round.
You could try Swift if you want really early ones from under your Tunnel cloches, Geoff.
They're not the best tasting, but still better than bought.

I was just talking to Old Codger, and he said, "i'll have a look and see what tripe you have put on the forum today". Surely he must have been reading someone elses postings.

Hi all,
What a fantastic weekend, weather wise!!
Hope you all enjoyed the sun as much as I did, back to work tuesday.. half-term last week...
Harvesting the first broad beans tomorrow, can't wait, but I bet someone on here has already had their first harvest......
PS. No sunburn

Morning Donedigging, I had a fantastic Weekend too, and for me it wasn't just the weather.
I should have had the first pickings of Broad Beans this weekend, but alas i have got a huge problem with a Deer again over the last week. It's eaten all the pods off a thirty foot row, despite me netting everything with four foot netting, it's only my plots it seems to be picking on.
Regarding the sunburn, i can wait.

Morning OH
Sorry to hear about your beans
Perhaps you could hang a few copies of this on the four foot netting
I risked looking at the Red Duke of York yesterday - planted 31 March - usually exactly two calendar months from planting to first meal of new potatoes here. They didn't let me down
Delicious.
Off to water the polytunnel before breakfast then find somewhere cool to hole up till the cool of the evening.
