I can't beleive it - my overwintering onions are already
getting flowerheads. I nip them off but it is a pain as
they really don't store very well when they flower. It
is mainly the red onions but noticed a couple on my
shallots as well.

I know I am pretty far south but not that temperate!
Looks like I will be harvesting early and running out of
stored onions early this year.

Dear Westi, i have just come back from the allotment, and i noticed some of my Spring planted white onions are going to seed.

My autumn ones are throwing up seed heads too and the foxes have desimated my spring sown ones. I have some spare sets left and taken a chance and planted them and hope it is not to late to get at least some sort of a crop this year.
