Aln once again hits the head of the nail head on and spoils the fantasy, i was hoping OH would do a search of the tale and let his imagination run wild. But on a side note it is still a nice story to go with an area which is both beautiful and pleasant.

The old Blackbird is up to his normal tricks, copying my whistling that is.
Everone doesn't know if it's me or the blackbird about, i think i might be able to use this to my advantage.

Specially for you OH
IF I WERE A BLACKBIRD
I once knew a maiden, a maiden so rare
Fell in love with a sailor, a young sailor beau,
She courted him dearly, by night and by day
Til at length this young sailor, he sailed far away
Chorus
And if I were a blackbird, I'd whistle and sing
I'd follow the ship that my true love sails in,
And on the top rigging I'd there build my nest
And I'd fly like a seagull to his lily white breast
My true love is handsome in every degree
My parents despise him because he loves me
Well, let them despise him, or say what they will
While there's life in my bosom, I'll love the lad still (Chorus)
If I were a scholar, I could handle a pen
One long, loving letter unto him I'd send
I'd tell him my sorrow, my grief and my woes
If I could but find him I'd crown him with gold (Chorus)
(More Bird Calls)
I’m just a young sailor and my story is sad
For once I was happy and a brave sailor lad
I courted a lassie by night and by day
But now she has left me and gone far away
(Orchestral Interlude with Bird Calls)
And pillow my head on her lily white breast
Whistle and sing, whistle and sing
I’ll follow the ship that my true love sails in

Day off yesterday to go to the hardy plant fair at Harlow Carr, bought a few interesting bits and pieces. Lots of nice Rhododendrons but perhaps the Tulips could be considered OTT. It was a lovely day compared with the wet and miserable morning we have today.

Well i'm all of a flutter, just had a little scratch around a root of Swift potatoes, and they are the size of a small hens egg.
I know what will be on the plate tomorrow, nestled between the burnt bits.
Have you tried yours yet Geoff?

I'll soon need to check my "Premiere"....I have one row in the main veg' border...and yesterday the last of the same variety from 15L pots went up the big house....
So they need to be ready...so I can have a supply at the next asking
They are hopefully moving now they have had some rainfall...but their progress will have been slow up til that....
In the field behind home here they were irrigating the Potatoes a week or so ago....the earliest I have ever seen them water...half of them were yet to emerge.!..and a day or two later there were dust storms.!!...sorted now with the 43mm rain over the last 3 days....which has really cheered things up
Clive.

Forgot to mention the Swift are outdoors over the allotments.
Dear Clive, there's still a chilly wind blowing down this way, have you still got it up there as well?
