Pots - to wash or not to wash?

I'm now feeling very happy, i have never washed a pot and have been feeling guilty about it every year thinking it made me a poor gardener. now i can smile knowing i'm not

I'm a washer, but a lot of my pots are stored in places where snails get at them. I believe these snail;s do a pretty good job of cleaning out the pots, so i am probably wasting my time.
