Hi SM
I'll get in before OH does
If you send me the money I'll buy you a rotovator and deliver it in person
Don't want the car; I'm happy with my van.
Yours hopefully
Alan

And some gentleman in Nigeria with an unpronouncable name recently mailed me to tell me that an unknown relative of mine out there had died and that if I were to deposit several thousand in his bank account for administration, I would be able to apply for probate.
I'd love to have a spare e-mail address and enough time and ingenuity to lead some of these people on a merry old goose chase for a few months before pulling the plug on them. At least they'd be so busy rubbing their hands in anticipation that they'd have less time to try and rob other people.

A couple of years ago we kept getting regular phonecalls from people in Nigeria trying to sell investments. We got rid of them by always replying and carrying on the conversation in Welsh, pretending we couldn't understand English. Eventually one of them said "Oh, f*** it!" and we never heard from them again.

Reminds me of that lovely example of how to deal with telemarketers - can't remember where I came across it first - possibly on this website or another one. It's good for a replay anyway:

Odd - I got an email today offering a chunk of gold profits from Sudan!
If it's under $10million I'm not interested ;o)
Seriously though, Interesting story on TV today about a huge scam racket being busted, but it is sad to hear that it is clearly the older community who fall for these scams - I suspect more because in their day, people were more honest - and a letter through the post with your name on it was always genuine.
Sad times.

Now what's happened to the days, where the travelling saleman used to travel from village to village on his horse, selling bottles of elixir.
A far simpler con, but so saying that i did buy a bottle of the stuff 150 years ago.
