Double-yolked eggs.

If double -yolked eggs are fertlized,do they produce twins,or do the chicks not survive?

The yolk is the food store - the fertilized cell is in the white of the egg. I suppose it is possible for two fertilized cells to be in the white but my guess is that they would fail to develop properly when incubated.

Ello Diane. Wow that video is incredible! I was holding my breath. I don't know anything about keeping chickens. Would those chicks have emerged alive naturally if she hadn't helped them or would they have died? Do you know if they survived after their "assisted" hatching? Cheers Elaine.

No, I don't know how the little chicks got on after they were hatched....they looked healthy enough so no reason why they wouldn't grow up ok. Wish there was a follow up. Not sure if they would have both hatched ok - as I don't think there would have been room to manoevre correctly.
