Yesterday I was persuaded, much against my better judgement, to purchase the DVD of Mama Mia. Not having gone to see it at the cinema, (I hate films that are very heavily advertised there must be a reason they have to do that, maybe they are not confident enough that the film is good enough and need to flog it to the general masses) my granddaughter suggested we watch it last night.

I am sorry but I have never watched such drivel for quite a long time. There was no story just singing linked together with some dancing and a little dialogue and yes I know it was a musical, but so was The Sound of Music and they had a good story. Meryl Streep did a reasonable job of her singing but Pierce Brosnan was appalling both acting and singing.

Now tonight I am going to watch The Bourne Supremacy and if the others are anything to go by it will be a very good night.

Right moan over I must go and get on with some work as the weather here is beautiful today and I dont want to waste a minute of it.

Hi Catherine

I went to see Mama Mia at the cinema in the summer. I've always loved Abba so anticipated a lovely evening.

After less than 20 minutes my friend Lila and I just had to get out of the place because the film was so awful. We went for a meal instead and it was time far better spent.

As you say, total drivel!

Hi Chantal I too love the Abba music and suprised my grand daughter by knowing all the words  But although we sat through it for her it is not something I want to repeat. I think I would rather pull my finger nails out with tweezers

I liked it.........schmalzy.........sing a long and easy to watch. No Smut or violence, nicely filmed, good clean fun. But I have a son who loves any form of music.
If I am not on the plot, I am not happy.........

We loved it too! Lyndon didn't want to go but was persuaded eventually with a promise of a Thai meal afterwards.

The whole of the audience sang along at the top of their voices. Great fun.

DW dragged me, very reluctantly, to see it. I have to admit I really enjoyed it - a lot of good clean silliness and nonsense with all the great ABBA stuff.
We've now even got the DVD!
