I got up at 6am this morning cause I could not sleep
If it had been a week day I would have been able to sleep for England and we have a small dusting of snow. Yippee very childish I know but I for one love snow and we dont get enough of it. But I have just been out to the wood store for logs to light the fire and it is hail stoning so I dont know what the rest of the day is going to bring. Hopefully more snow. What has everyone else got weather wise today? This is our second dusting of snow this winter so maybe we might be in for a snowy winter

Dear Catherine, we have a dusting of snow here too, but it's starting to come down a little heavier now.
I wouldn,t worry too much about the child in you coming out, when that stops it's time to worry, as it means theres nothing left in life to look forward to.

Chucking it down with rain here. I went out with the dog at 6.30 this morning and it was a lovely orange sunrise. Didn't last long though
Cheers PJ.
I'm just off down the greenhouse. I won't be long...........

We've now had a day with
ice
snow
light rain
sunshine
torrential rain
&
wind
It seemed to change every half hour!
Blue skies and hot sunshine then freezing cold and coming down in torrents.
I spent the day in front of a log fire.

We went to Dent in the Dales today to walk under the railway arches and up onto the moors. The weather has been bitterly cold but beautiful. We could see the mountains in the Lake District covered with snow. To the East the skies were black and it looked like they were having the worst of the weather. But we have been walking in sunshine. Now we are tucked up in front of the log burner with a glass of wine having just eaten a a lovely meal of spicy bean casserole and Ermes red rice.
I love days like this. Maybe we can't garden or plant much but we can enjoy the beautiful scenery that we are lucky to have in this area.

Hope you both had your wooly pants on whilst at the Dales.
You are quite right though Catherine, it is so nice to get out and about, even at this time of the year.
Theres still plenty to see.

When I was in the RAF I was chatting to a Canadian pilot in the mess one evening and he said 'Your country surprises me, you get Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter". I said "Don't you get the 4 seasons?" and he replied "Not all in one day!"
Catherine- I do envy you your walk on the hills, the best we can manage round Surrey is the North Downs, nice but not very inspiring.
Managed one good deal this autumn though - bartering all our potato and other vegetable peelings for eggs from a retired policeman who has started keeping chickens - two! (Our local pub regulars have dubbed it the "Cockshot Hill Poultry Farm"!)

Hi John Yes we are really lucky that we don't have to go far for a good walk. We have Pendle Hill and the Ribble Valley on our door step and the Dales very close by. Then the Lake District about an hour away. I love living in this area. Though we also love going to Wales and Suffolk and Norfolk and Dorset and the Cotswolds.
We do a lot of walking and cycling and these are the areas we have stayed in and enjoyed so much. But we are very spoilt for countryside around here.
