Best method for getting rid of nettles (lots of them)

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

We mustn't forget that nettles are also the food plants of the caterpillars of three of our best loved butterflies, small tortoiseshell, red admiral and peacock, so if you have a patch in a nice sunny spot, leave a few nettles standing for the caterpillars!

Hi Monika,

Now there is an interesting fact I did not know. Rest assured that the other side of the fence at the bottom of the garden is a large field that has a strip about ten metres deep of 'set-a-side' (or what ever they call it now) and this has many nettle patches with the added bonus that is faces south to catch the sun all day long.
Cheers,
