Ok, I was thinking about this yesterday and thought I would share with you.
Is it me or is TV being taken over by idiots? The shows are, in 99% of cases, complete **** hosted by egotistical people who consider their audience to be devoid of any intelligence.
The BBC seem to have lost the plot. The only thing worth watching on there at the moment is Little Dorrit and the excellent Prince Charles documentary that was on tonight.
There seems to be nothing original at all anywhere. I thought about how much tv i've watched over the last 3 days and it came to 5 hours. That included Little Dorrit, the news, the Prince Charles documentary and Mock the Week.
Plus, what's with the adverts coming on after 5 minutes? Doesn't anyone have an attention span or is it a case of tv dumbing down?
Now, maybe i'm getting old but I find it intensly irritating and, if left to me, our tv would be gone. What does everyone else think?

Dear Lizzie, i quite agree, theres mostly a complete load of rubbish on.
I used to like BBC1 news reports, but even these are trying to glorify stories by the reporters asking stupid questons.

Why do I get the impression , that the BBC pick there reporters by colour, and not by ability. old and cranky.

I quite agree about the poor content or programmes and ridiculous questions the interviewers ask. Don't know whether it is an age thing but I'm finding myself heckling the presenters!!
I also seem to be doing crosswords and reading during some programmes - I do switch it off, but these are the programmes which I expect to be interesting.
Have you noticed that Holby City has started showing clips from the previous ten programmes to jog your memory at the start of the programme and strange music and singing accompanies this and also ends the programme - another one to avoid.

Personally I think the BBC's team of presenters and reporters are second to none. We are very fortunate to have such a dedicated and multi-racial and multi-national team of educated people.
ive just watched the weakest link whilst cooking tea,
one of the questions referred to wild bill hickok as a famous outlaw, and another claimed that an archer stretched the bow string to fire an arrow,
in my opinion all the presenters are grossly overpaid, 30k a year should be ample to hire a replacement for any of them, afterall they only read from an autocue and get to do as many takes as it takes for them to get it right.
im finding that the rest of the family have the box on as background noise whilst they are doing something else. yesterday i came in and turned it off and put some music on , the kids moaned a bit but an hour later they were in the middle of the floor dancing together.

The problem I have with the old chestnut “you can always reach for the OFF button” is why should we?
After having to pay a license fee of £139.50 I think that we are entitled to receive some quality broadcasting.
As for Shallot Man’s observation, yes, if you are from an ethnic group other than native British you will be favoured to get a job with the BBC, all part of the brainwashing experience I’m afraid. Social Engineering is all about making everyone think the way the chattering classes think we should. There was a time, long ago, when a person got a job based on ability, now it is all about filling quotas.
Why have the BBC not yet sacked that lowlife Jonathan Ross?
The BBC has no principles or moral courage.
Bring back cheerful Charlie Chester I say.
Best wishes
Barney

We got rid of our TV about 20 years ago because we very rarely watched it and we don't miss it. The few times I do see it now, when baby sitting for grandchildren, I am amazed how anybody could want to pay for it! Even the gardening programmes which we did used to watch many years ago, never go into details, they just seem to jump from subject to subject without going into depth about anything. That's why I prefer books.
Everybody in our village seems to know that we don't have a telly and, now that we'll be eligible for a free licence, they think we'll be getting one. But, no thank you.
I do love the radio, though, especially Radios 3 and 4!

I'm with you, Monika. We do have a telly - my OH is currently fast asleep in front of it (he's knackered, poor dear), but I know that if I get within 2 feet of the off button, he'll wake up and give the usual comment of "I was watching that!"
That's why I'm upstairs looking at the KG forum and doing some reading & other interesting stuff!
Best wishes,
Vivien

It should buck up. I believe they are planning a series involving four teams of professionals - chefs, conductors, ballroom dancers and ice dancers - playing games of cricket, rugby and football against each other. They'll sing if there is a tie break required. Should be riveting, beat the soap operas anytime.
Perhaps all the programmes are made by Media Studies graduates who got on their courses with two D's and a Blue Peter badge.

Barney, it would be useful if you had some evidence before posting your thinly veiled racism. That's why I posted the list of BBC newsreaders and reporters in my previous post.
Best wishes

Alan
Who are you to pronounce on what is racist?
What evidence do you have that my comments are racist?
My comments are factual, it has also been admitted by the police and fire service that they also have used positive discrimination to fill quotas. I believe this to be dangerous and will be seen to damage race relations, a view shared my many wise people. Perhaps if you read the recent findings from Trevor Phillips you may take more notice of the harm these actions may lead to.
I may not share the current PC brigades’ attitude to race relations but I have great concern that race relations can be damaged due to veiled positive discrimination.
Your accusation is offensive and I ask you to withdraw it.
Kind regards
Barney
