The last few years I have had very good results from growing leeks under a fleece tunnel to deter the leek moth but I do find the leeks get tall and the tops tend to bend over.
Can anyone suggest a variety that doesn't grow too tall. I am not looking for show leeks just something that will be good for the kitchen.
Thanks
Beryl.

Dear Beryl, Monstruoso de carentan are an old French variety that are pretty stout and not too tall.
Not sure if they would get stretched under fleece though.
They crop from October to January.
The Organic gardening catalouge, stock them.
Hope you find this of use.

Thanks OH I will look out for it.
I suppose it is the fleece that draws them on but I will try them. Thanks again.
Beryl.
