Hi All,
I have ventured into my brassicas cages this afternoon and find them alight with white fly and a sort of dusting on the leaves. The plants though are growing well if a bit brittle.
They are mostly brussels and psb because underplanting with cabbage was a really silly idea!!!
Any suggestions?
Regards
Penny

Dear Penny, the dustng that you described is probably a mould that grows on the whiteflies sticky excretions. This is not as bad as it sounds.
The whitefly are quite hard to get rid of as they seem to get resiliant to sprays. But they don't seem to do too much damage even when in large numbers.
I've often had this mad thought of going at them with one of those petrol leaf sucker/blowers, blowing if you don't like your allotment neighbour, and sucking if you do.
I know it sounds mad but i'm sure it would work.
