Can anybody tell me what this plant is?

There are lots of them springing up in various parts of the garden. I'm not sure if it is something that the previous owner used to grow, and loads of seeds have germinated, or if it's a pernicious weed It spreads quickly and is low growing, and although it is quite pretty, I don't want it to get out of hand. Sea knotgrass - Polygonum maritimum aka Persicaria capitata

Dear P.J, I second Alans well thought out answer, i think it is Persicaria Capitata pink bubbles.

I'm certain this same plant came up when our dear Jenny Green used to be on the forum, i really do miss her not being on here any longer.

It is a pretty plant, I brought a cutting of it back from Madeira where it grows wild all over the place, but I've found any outside gets killed by frost here, although it does get through the winter in the greenhouse, where it has seeded into neighbouring plant pots, so needs to be watched.

Reminds me of people round here. When I say "Dw i'n mynd yn hen" (I'm getting old) they always reply "Dim yn hen, 'mond yn hŷn" (Not old, just older)

It is nice isn't it. I'll just have to keep a check on it. I don't mind it growing in some areas of the garden, but don't really want it taking over.
