I am going on holiday tomorrow for a week and I cant decide whether to leave the door shut on my polytunnel or leave it open day and night. Might sound daft but I have three tomatoe plants three courgette plants and four aubergine plants. I have been, over the last few days, leaving the doors shut at night and open during the day. But as I am not going to be here I cant expect anyone else to do that every day. (though I must say that I would do it for someone else if they asked me to)
If the weather does come warm
next week will it harm my plants as last year I kept the door shut all through the summer because we had a lot of cold and wet weather in the summer and I got blight all the way through the tomatoes. This year I have made sure that the doors are left open all the time until it went cold this last week. Just cant make my mind up. Help
If the weather does come warm
we are off on wednesday for a week so have to make a similar choice. ive left one end door on the tunnels open all summer, couple of days ago i shut the bottom half, cat now has to jump over
. i shall just leave the top of the door open whilst we are away, ventilation to prevent moulds is probably more important than cold nights. weve had so much rain that i havnt watered in the tunnels for over a month, the ground seems to be damp enough from whats falling outside.

Though I haven't got a polytunnel, the door on my greehouse hasn't been closed since May. Whilst tomatoes in the allotment have all sucumbed to blight, none of the greenhouse ones have.
Mind you, do you think it's going to be that warm over the next week or so?

I have decided to leave them closed and I have asked a friend who has an allotment close by that if it does come warm and sunny
then she will come an open the doors of the PT and weight the doors open. The whole plot is absolutely waterlogged. I think I should give up this year. Today it never stopped raining heavily. Never mind we are going on holiday tomorrow we are all packed and are now sitting with a nice glass of wine and chilling.
